Berkeley County has named Ben Almquist as the new Director of Emergency Preparedness.

Almquist has experience in emergency response due to his time working as the Regional Emergency Coordinator for South Carolina Emergency Management Division.

He is a Marine Corps veteran and a Citadel graduate. He was born in Berkeley County in Goose Creek.

“We’re thrilled to strengthen the Emergency Preparedness department with Almquist’s leadership,” said Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler.

“I would like to thank the Berkeley County leadership for giving me this opportunity,” said Almquist.

“I look forward to serving the people of Berkeley County and ensuring we are well-prepared for any future emergency situations.”
