It sounds type of like a mass of crickets. A high-pitched whine, however from what? It appears to undulate, even writhe. Hear intently: There are a number of, distinct tones that sound to some like they’re colliding in a nails-on-the-chalkboard impact.

The Related Press has obtained a recording of what some U.S. Embassy staff heard in Havana in a sequence of unnerving incidents later deemed to be deliberate assaults. The recording, launched Thursday by the AP, is the primary disseminated publicly of the various taken in Cuba of mysterious sounds that led investigators initially to suspect a sonic weapon.

The recordings themselves usually are not believed to be harmful to those that pay attention. Sound consultants and physicians say they know of no sound that may trigger bodily injury when performed for brief durations at regular ranges by normal tools like a cellphone or laptop.
